Huawei’s IFA 2014 teaser?
IFA 2014 is just a couple weeks away, and smartphone companies everywhere have already been getting us psyched-up for their respective showings by dropping a few hints here and there of what we can expect. Some have been relatively straightforward, like that ASUS smartwatch teaser from yesterday, while others can be a bit more inscrutable. Today, Huawei’s got a clever one out, and it might just take a little brainstorming before we’re fully able to get to the bottom of it.
That first image seems clear enough, hinting at a device with some sort of fingerprint authentication, but what about the rest? A gear shifter – maybe for auto integration? A calculator app? And… cats?
Seeing that shifter go all the way to eight may be the key to that glyph, as that’s pretty excessive for any car. Instead, this might have something to do with its new octa-core SoC.
What about that math? 83 divided by 100? Well, it’s not the highlight of the image, but that sure looks like a pretty narrow bezel on the phone depicted here. Could the implication be 83 percent, as in the amount of face real estate taken up by an expansive display?
Finally, those cats really had us stumped, until someone suggested we count them. One, two… six cats. Like in Cat 6 LTE, perhaps?
